Common Questions

FAQ for Prospective Staff

Answers to the questions we hear most from educators considering Universal School.

Frequently Asked Questions

Collaborative, supportive, and mission-driven. Small enough to be family-like, professional enough to be excellent. You'll find colleagues who genuinely care about each other's success and students who know your name and appreciate your efforts. Decision-making involves teacher voices at every level.
Significant autonomy within curriculum frameworks. Innovation is actively encouraged with appropriate support and oversight. Teachers are trusted professionals — not just content delivery vehicles. You'll have the freedom to try new approaches, design projects, and personalize your teaching style.
Leadership actively supports classroom management challenges. The school maintains clear behavioral expectations school-wide, creating consistency across all spaces. Colleagues collaborate openly, sharing strategies that work. Parent partnership is strong — families are engaged partners, not obstacles. You won't face difficult situations alone.
Evaluations are a growth conversation, not a judgment exercise. The process includes classroom observations with prior notice, student feedback components, honest self-reflection, collaborative goal-setting, and an improvement planning process that focuses on support rather than punishment. Excellence is recognized; growth is celebrated.
Universal School operates a multilingual environment. The Lebanese Excellence pathway follows the national curriculum with instruction in Arabic, French, and English. The Canadian OSSD pathway delivers curriculum in English. The Entrepreneurship pathway is designed to be accessible across languages. Teachers are placed in roles that match their language expertise.
