Career FAQs — Universal School
For most positions, Arabic language skills are helpful but not always required. OSSD programme teachers can succeed with English proficiency alone, as the Canadian Gateway curriculum is delivered entirely in English. Specific language requirements are clearly noted in each job posting — if in doubt, contact us before applying.
Salaries are competitive with the Lebanese private school market and are commensurate with your experience, qualifications, and the role. Specific salary ranges are discussed transparently during the interview process — we do not believe in surprises. Reach out to our HR team if you have questions before applying.
[Housing policy — confirm and complete based on school decision. If housing is provided or a housing allowance is offered, describe it here. If not, note that the school can assist with relocation guidance and recommendations for accommodation near the Aramoun campus.]
Some part-time positions are available, particularly for subject specialists in Arts, Music, Physical Education and technology. Most classroom teacher positions are full-time roles. If you are interested in part-time work, note this clearly in your cover letter and we will discuss availability during the interview.
All teachers are expected to complete a minimum of 20 hours of professional development annually. This is typically delivered through in-service days, workshops, peer observation cycles, and external conferences. Universal School supports and funds these opportunities — PD is not something you do alone in your own time.
Absolutely — Canadian teachers are especially welcomed for OSSD Canadian Gateway positions. Your Ontario Teacher Certification and familiarity with the Ontario curriculum are highly valued. We work with Rosedale International Education and can provide additional training and support. Contact us about visa support and relocation assistance.
Follow Universal School on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram for announcements about new positions and school news. You can also submit a speculative application to careers@universalschool.edu.lb — we keep strong CVs on file and reach out when a suitable role becomes available.

Questions about a role, the application process, or what it is like to work at Universal School? We would love to hear from you.
The best teachers we have ever hired were not necessarily those with the longest CVs — they were the ones who walked in believing that every child deserves a great educator, and who never stopped trying to become one themselves.
